Movies That Matter Beacon

Movies That Matter Beacon, in Beacon, NY. show films that address themselves to the pertinent issues of our times, including those of climate change, economic inequality, racial justice, and political protest.  Films are shown in their entirety and followed by a discussion of the issues raised. It is the hope of the sponsors and organizers of this series that such viewings can serve as an information source and ultimately as a catalyst for positive change.


The sponsors are First Presbyterian Church of Beacon, The Beacon Peace Awards Foundation, The Beacon Independent Film Festival,  Southern Dutchess NAACP and Connie Hogarth Center for Social Action.


The film showings will take place at McKinley Hall, First Presbyterian Church at 50 Liberty Street in Beacon, NY on the last Friday on the month, starting on August 28th, at 7:30 PM.


No film showing will be in December.


Free admission and donations will be accepted.
